Sports Awards 2014/15

Monday 6th July saw the PE Department at Arthur Terry host the third of its' annual Sports Awards events. The event, which took place in the main hall gives us an opportunity to recognise and reward those students who have made an outstanding contribution in Physical Education throughout the year, be it practically or at GCSE/A-Level.

The event has been met with extremely positive comments from both students and parents and continues to move from strength to strength each year. Headteacher Mr Gill was in attendance to present the awards alongside various members of the Physical Education department speaking about each students prior to collecting their awards.

Below you can see a selection of our award winners, along with a list summarising all of our winners on the evening.
Sportsman of the Year - Year 7 - Oliver Clayton - winner of the award for outstanding performance across the curriculum and success in a range of extra-curricular activities
Sportswoman of the Year - Year 7 - Sophie Westlake - a star in the making! Sophie's attitude and effort in PE lessons has been faultless. She represents Warwickshire in Cricket and has represented the school in Cricket, Rounders and Athletics!
Sportswoman of the Year - Year 8 - Elley Cridde - Elley is exceptionally talented in so many areas. She has an outstanding attitude towards Physical Education. She has represented her County in Netball and Indoor Athletics where she has competed in the UK Athletics finals in Manchester. She has represented the school in a host of areas incl. Joe is also a district representative in Football, recently winning a Cup Final held at Wolverhampton Wanderers stadium. He is also an exceptional sprinter!
Our awards also allow us to recognise the achievements of our students in theoretical aspects of Physical Education. There are awards for our GCSE and A-level students which recognise high levels of progress or excellence in these areas. Again, a sample of our award winners is shown below.

GCSE Progress Award - Year 9 - Rajan Singh - Rajan has shown a constant desire to improve and act upon feedback provided by his GCSE PE teachers. Rajan recognises the challenge the GCSE PE presents and has shown an excellent level of resilience in his learning.
GCSE Excellence Award - Year 11 - Rebecca Gill-Parsons - 'Becky' is an extremely talented individual. Her practical prowess has stood her in good stead for her GCSE course. Alongside this however, Becky has shown a superb understanding of the theoretical content that forms the GCSE PE course. She is a role-model to others and has shown excellence in all areas of the GCSE course.
A-Level Excellence Award - Robert Leslie - Robert arrived at Arthur Terry this year from Bishop Vesey's School. Robert has taken extremely well to the theoretical aspects of the A-level course. He has performed at a consistently high level in all assessments over the course of the year and we are very hopeful he will secure a top grade when he receives his AS results. Robert has excelled in Anatomy and Physiology in particular.
